Budrus, the story of how Palestinians and Israelis unite to oppose Israel's separation wall, screens at the Tribeca Film Festival; Part 1 of K. E. Feldman's Birthright Chronicles; plus Have You Heard From Johannesburg, a seven-part documentary on the international struggle against apartheid.

    Executive Producer, Ronit Avni is a filmmaker and human rights advocate.  She is the founder and Executive Director of Just Vision a not-for-profit organization that creates media about Palestinian and Israeli civilians who are working to resolve the conflict nonviolently.

    Beginning in 2003, the West Bank village of Budrus united to nonviolently protest the confiscation of village lands for the construction of Israel's separation wall.   The documentary, Budrus, tells the story of that protest.  With the support of activists from Israel and abroad, the villagers from Budrus succeeded in getting Israel to alter the route of the wall, saving most of their land.

    Budrus opens at the Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday April 25th at 3pm. There will be a conversation after the screening with director/producer Julia Bacha; producers Ronit Avni and Rula Salameh; Ayed and Iltezam Morrar, two of the Palestinian community organizers at the heart of the film; and Israeli activist Einat Podjarny.

    The documentary, Have You Heard From Johannesburg, follows the trajectory of the decades-long global anti-apartheid movement through an 8 1/2 hour, three part documentary series, now showing at Manhattan's Film Forum.

    One can't watch these films without seeing in them a road map for how to build a grass roots movement into a global force that can change government and corporate policies.
