    Beyond The Pale talks with Cecilie Surasky about Israel’s ongoing efforts to brand itself as a gay haven (and its global reverberations, including at the gay pride parade in Madrid, the U.S. Social Forum in Detroit, and efforts to keep Queers Against Israeli Apartheid out of the Toronto parade); and with Elle Flanders, a film maker and activist with Queers Against Israeli Apartheid in Toronto.

    IMPORTANT UPDATES:

    Beyond the Pale recorded these interviews in the middle of last week, before learning that:

    1) Pride Toronto has reversed its May board resolution banning the term "Israeli apartheid" and will instead require all participants to sign and abide by the City of Toronto's non-discrimination policy. Queers Against Israeli Apartheid will be marching in the July 4 parade.

    2) The U.S. Social Forum cancelled the “LGBTQI Liberation in the Middle East” workshop, sponsored by right wing pro-Israel supporters, Stand with Us.
