Musician and comic book artist Jeffrey Lewis, was raised in New York City and is a maker of comic books, tragi-comic folk narratives, and head-smashing garage rock - all of which meld together into the band currently known as Jeffrey Lewis & The Junkyard. The Beats-A Graphic History, a collection of comic book biographies of Beat Poets, edited by Paul Buhle, has been released by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux. In additon to work by the late Harvey Pekar (who also died on July 12, 2010) and Ed Piskor and others, the collection includes Jeffrey Lewis' 10-page comic book biography of Tuli Kupferberg.
