    In 1990 the Israel Ministry of Agriculture placed an ad in the Jerusalem Post that concluded: "It is difficult to conceive of any political solution consistent with Israel's survival that does not involve complete, continued control of the water and sewage systems and the associated infrastructure, including the power supply and road network, essential to their operation, maintenance and accessibility." On today's show we examine how Israel has solidified that control over that last 22 years.

    Joshua Rubenstein is the author of Leon Trotsky: A Revolutionary's Life, part of the Yale University Press's Jewish Lives series.  Rubenstein is the Northeast Regional Director of Amnesty International, USA, and a longtime associate at Harvard University's Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies.  He is the author of Tangled Loyalties: The Life and Times of Ilya Ehrenburg and is the co-editor of The KGB File of Andrei Sakharov and Stalin's Secret Pogrom: The Postwar Inquisition of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee, both published by Yale University Press.
